Story Behind the Shot:
Cannon Beach and its iconic Haystack Rock have always been a source of inspiration for me. For this particular image, I wanted to capture the transition between day and night, the warm setting sun blending seamlessly with the star trails above. Achieving this vision required a bit of planning and patience.
This photo is the result of two separate exposures combined into one composite. I set up my tripod in the same position throughout the process to ensure consistency. First, I captured the sunset over Haystack Rock and the surrounding coastline, then, once it was dark, I shot the star trails for about 45 minutes. In post-production, I blended the two images together to create the final result.
